How to enable .NET Framework in Windows 8 or 8.1 with or without internet access.

Before moving forward to the steps of how to enable .NET Framework 3.5 in Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 with or without using Internet let us know what is .NET Framework.

.NET Framework (pronounced dot net) is a software framework developed by Microsoft that runs primarily on Microsoft Windows. It includes a large library and provides language interoperability (each language can use code written in other languages) across several programming languages. Programs written for .NET Framework execute in a software environment (as contrasted to hardware environment), known as the Common Language Runtime (CLR), an application virtual machine that provides services such as security, memory management, and exception handling. The class library and the CLR together constitute .NET Framework.

.NET Framework's Framework Class Library provides user interface, data access, database connectivity, cryptography, web application development, numeric algorithms, and network communications. Programmers produce software by combining their own source code with .NET Framework and other libraries. .NET Framework is intended to be used by most new applications created for the Windows platform. Microsoft also produces an integrated development environment largely for .NET software called Visual Studio.

Now here are the Prerequisites and step-by-step tutorial for enabling .NET Framework 3.5 in Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 with or without using Internet

Enabling .NET Framework 3.5 in Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 by using Internet
Prerequisites for enabling .NET Framework 3.5 in Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 by using Internet are:-

1.       Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 PC
2.       Internet Access

Note: The .NET Framework 3.5 file is of approximately 231 MB, so make sure to use Wi-Fi or Unlimited Internet Connection or a Dial-Up Connection with at least 300 MB (I have mentioned 300 MB here for safety purpose).
The steps to enable .Net Framework 3.5 in Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 by using Internet are:-

1.       Go to Control Panel
2.       Click on Programs
3.       Click on Programs and Features
4.       Click on Turn Windows features on or off
5.       Check the box where it is written .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)

Note: The box should be filled instead of a tick mark

6.       Click on Ok
7.       Now let Windows download and enable the required files (It is preferred to keep the PC idle till the download and installation is complete)
8.       Once it is enabled, click on Close.

Enabling .NET Framework 3.5 in Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 without using Internet
Prerequisites for enabling .NET Framework 3.5 in Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 without using Internet are:-

1.       Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 PC
2.       Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 DVD or ISO

Note: The DVD or ISO used must be Original or if the ISO is downloaded from a 3rd Party site, then make sure that the ISO is Untouched (which means it should not be an All-In-One ISO or a Two-In-One ISO). Even the Architecture of the DVD or ISO should be same as that of the Windows installed on the PC (which means that if the Windows installed is of 32bits (x86) then the DVD or ISO must also be of 32bits (x86) and this is the same for 64bits (x64) Windows).
The steps to enable .NET Framework 3.5 in Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 without using Internet are:-

1.       Go to Computer or This PC
2.       Check the Drive Letter of the Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 DVD or where the ISO is mounted.
3.       Now run Command Prompt as Administrator (Press Windows Button + X and then Select Command Prompt(Admin))
4.       Type: "Dism.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename: NetFX3 /all /Source:X:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess" without "".

Note: There should be spaces as given above. If spaces are missing, Command Prompt will show an error. Above ‘X’ is the Drive letter of the Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 DVD or where the ISO is mounted.

5.       After typing hit the Enter button.
6.       After completion, you will see a Windows telling that .NET Framework 3.5 is installed.
7.       Click on OK
8.       Now Go to Control Panel
9.       Click on Programs
10.   Click on Programs and Features
11.   Click on Turn Windows features on or off
12.   You will see that the Check box where it is written .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) is filled. This means that .NET Framework 3.5 is successfully enabled in your PC.

If you want to enable all the features of .NET Framework 3.5 which are Windows Communication Foundation HTTP Activation and Windows Communication Foundation Non-HTTP Activation then click on the check box, the tick mark will appear in both the check boxes as well as in the .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) Box.

As .NET Framework 3.5 is already installed, Windows won’t connect to internet to enable those features and the features will be turned on.

How to open hidden task manager to clear RAM and improve performance of your phone; Nokia Asha

asha-503-task-manager
Source- The Mobile Indian

Nokia Asha phones that run on the New Nokia Asha Platform comes pre-installed with a bunch of apps that uses much of its internal memory. There are ways to remove pre-installed apps in older Asha phones but no working method  has been found yet for the phones running the new Asha OS.  With the last major OTA update, Nokia has removed some of the useless games and has included many other apps. And these can’t be removed. Although this was a good move from their part but each users have their own tastes and preferences. The list of these default apps include Line, Wechat, Linkedin, Twitter, Nimbuz, OneDrive, NewsHunt and some utility apps like Pocket Word, Pocket Excel etc. Many users find these useless as for a normal person LinkedIn is not necessary. Many don’t use Whatsapp, Wechat, Line and Nimbuz at a time. Many don’t feel it good to view documents in a 3” inch screen and the Pocket apps(Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are not efficient enough to do their job. So all these factors make these apps useless and wastage of memory and makes the phone's menu look crowded.

The messenger apps eat up a lot of RAM in the phone and by 'Lot of RAM', i meant the limited 64MB RAM. With the last update, the software got pushed to 14.0.4 in which the RAM management in the phone got improved. Now a simple task manager pops up with the option to close the apps that are currently running in background. Apps like Whatsapp and Xpress Browser always run in background once opened. This will remain opened till you switch off or restart the phone. So while using some apps like Wechat, Nimbuzz or browsing in UC browser, the heap memory decreases after some time and the task manager pops up. In this situation, you must close all the apps shown there to clear memory. This prevents the phone from getting overloaded. But Its quite annoying as we were in the middle of something and now we need to close the browser. The task manager can't be opened manually. It opens itself when a situation arises. So we are not able to check what all apps are opened in the background.

Nokia-asha-task-manager-app-jar-download-free-ram-311-501-503-230

The new TASK MANAGER app given an end to this problem. The app helps to open the hidden task manager in the phone thus enabling us to close all background running apps whenever we want. In my opinion, this is a handy and a must-have app in your phone. I recommend you to save the file in the phone memory of your phone so that app will still be there even if you remove the memory card. Saving in the phone's limited memory won't harm you in an way, because the app is just 16kb in size!
[ Please note that this is an app that runs only in Nokia devices running Asha Platform 14.0.4 or higher; Nokia 501, 500, 502, 503 and 230  ]

Rooms, A new blog-inspired app from Facebook

facebook rooms logo

The social media giant Facebook recently launched its new app, Rooms. The message board application is more similar to a blogging platform. It lets you create tiny message boards for posting  text, photos and videos. You can create your own username and identity in each room. These rooms are invite only and requires a special code [QR Code] that needs to be scanned with your phone. The unique codes can be shared anywhere via emails, forums, social networks or even through news papers for inviting users of a particular region. This lets them gain entry to your room. The room created is a bit like mobile forum inside an Instagram styled vertical feed.

The NewYork Times reported earlier this month that Facebook will be launching an app that allowed anonymity. This isn’t exactly right. You don’t need to connect with your Facebook account to reveal your details or friend lists as both the platforms are entirely different. The invite system helps you to build a community based on your particular interest. The creator of the room is the Moderator and has full control over the room. There can be more than one Moderator for a room and they do the role of administrators. They can ban the unruly members and those who don’t follow the guidelines. Once banned, the user is restricted to enter the room with his banned device. Not just this, they can change the room’s look, add a nickname to the room or a background image, or use an emoji instead of the like button. The moderator can even set the room to 18+, in case.

After the launch, Facebook is sued by Damien Rottemberg, developer of the app, Room which was launched before Rooms. Maybe a huge coincidence, both the apps offer very similar experience with an identical name(almost). Anyways, Room is more like killed now as the small company’s app has been buried in online search results. Whether the search tags are ‘room’ or ‘rooms’ it will now lead only to Facebook’s app, not the other one.

Just 24 hours after the app’s launch, The Facebook product manager, Josh Miller discovered that the users have hacked it. The main discovery was the hashtag search on Instagram (#rooms). Searching for the term, Miller found a room called VSCO cam, started by a college student in England which had 32 members. And someone in the room posted an invite to another room! In order to access a room user needs take screenshot or capture a picture of the QR code with the app. Miller wrote in a post “They have essentially ‘linked’ to another room in the same way forums, message boards and blogs used to link each other in the early days of the web ”

Rooms is the next after the release of Slingshot and Paper that didn’t created much hike in the stores. Available in US, UK and few other countries and is free to download from Apple App Store. No words yet on a Windows Phone release but an Android version is expected to be released in early 2015.

How to Remove Advertisements from Apps/Games in Asha 5XX phones

asha 501 no more ads in gamesNokia Asha OS is a much advanced version of Nokia’s Series 40 OS for feature phones. These phones are equipped with the features of smartphones at the price that fits everybody’s budget. This revolutionary move by Nokia started with the launch of Asha 501 and now has 5 variants in this row. Tons of apps are available for this platform in Nokia Store. Nokia is providing a huge opportunity for developers to reach the world. Store has a wide reach all over the world and helps developers to attain downloads for their products. There are mainly three methods for developers to earn,
  1. 1. A paid app
  2. 2. A free app with in-app payment
  3. 3. A free app
Apart from these, a developer can include Ads in his app. This is also a major source of income for the developer. With this feature , the app/game will display an advertisement when the user opens the app. But to run the app, it requires a working internet connection. In case of games, The game can’t be played if there is no data pack active. And for a user of a budget phone like Asha, will find it hard to use data packs as the network providers are making it costlier day by day. And these useless advertisements irritates me a lot too.

So this is a tutorial to remove the Advertisements and skip to the game directly. This can be done in three easy steps, completely in the mobile itself. I strongly recommend you to use use UC Browser (Download) for this.

Steps for removing Ads. from Apps/Games

First and foremost, create a new folder in your memory card, say My Folder.
(If you are in UC Browser now, you can create a New Folder without closing it.
Simply go to Downloads > Menu > FileManager > Memorycard > create New Folder)

1. Open Nokia Store in a new tab in UC Browser. Search for the Game you wish to remove ads. For example, Let the game’s name be AngryBirds and press . In the ‘Download Notice’ page press SAVE and save it to My Folder. Now you have downloaded the JAD file of the Game and it will be downloaded as ‘AngryBirds_240x320_jad’. Now close the tab.

download screenshot uc browser

2. Open this LINK in a new tab and upload the file (AngryBirds_240x320_jad) to its server. You will get a link to download the JAR file of the game (AngryBirds_240x320.jar) in the next page. Now download the file just like you downloaded the JAD file, save it to MyFolder. Wait for the file to get fully downloaded and the file will be named like ‘AngryBirds_240x320_jar’. Now close the tab.

screenshot uc browser asha 501

3. Open this LINK in new tab and upload the jar file to the site. Wait sometime for the file to get uploaded and in the next page you can download the file ‘AngryBirds_240x320_Ad_Removed_jar.

screenshot uc browser asha 501

Now simply rename the file (AngryBirds_240x320_Ad_Removed_jar) to (AngryBirds_240x320_Ad_Removed.jar). Before you close the browser and start playing your game, Please like us on facebook !!

Cover, the smartest lockscreen app on Android

Cover, a brilliant lockscreen app that offers users the right app, at the right time. The app learns user's behavior patterns and understands whether he or she is driving, at the office or at home, and automatically loads shortcuts to the most suitable apps on a device's lockscreen so that they are at the user's fingertips. So for example, at work, the calendar, LinkedIn and Email could be in the screen, while in the car, Google Maps is front and center. At home, it could be the sports results, Facebook and Twitter. Cover can even adjusts the phone's settings according to the context like, it turns off the ringer while at work or disable the ability to make and receive calls altogether while driving.

Since its initial announcement in October last year, the app is still in beta form. According to the company, Cover has undergone over 100 minor improvements and alterations including the addition of tutorials and greater customization. Another data shows that, an average smartphone owner has 41 apps installed on their handset, and that doesn't include the third party apps that are pre-installed by manufacturers and network operators. And as the number of apps continues to grow, trying to find the right one, in a hurry, will getting more and more difficult, especially for owners having devices with smaller, 4-5 inch screens as it is too difficult to swipe between 6-7 screens and finding the app. Cover will perform the job like an Assistant, silently. If you are an above average android user, Cover is a must-have.

How to Create your own Wi-Fi hotspot and share your Internet over other Wi-Fi enabled Devices

Having a WiFi connection at home is cool. But having a WiFi connection without paying for an external WiFi modem sounds even more cool. As u know a WiFi connection enables you to access internet wirelessly on your WiFi enabled mobiles, tablets, laptops etc. Now most people have access to internet in their PCs(broadband or a dial-up connection) and smartphones.  Many pay for their internet separately for each devices. As a way to reduce your expense on internet, the data you access on your PC can also be shared to your smartphones, at no cost. The below mentioned applications will help you to do so.

Requirements-
*A WiFi enabled PC/Laptop with a decent internet connection.
*A smartphone/PDA that has WiFi.
*Any one of the below mentioned software.

Virtual WiFi router

Virtual WiFi router turns any WiFi-capable PC into a WiFi  router that shares the internet connection to other devices wirelessly. It has a simple and friendly user interface which makes it easy to use. The application can be minimized into the tray. It runs on almost all Windows platform.
Download (Official)

Thinix

Thinix works by creating a virtual hotspot using wireless adapter in your windows pc. It allows you to pay for one internet connection and share that for all your devices which has a WiFi. It has a built-in WPA2 encryption, pin code protection and auto key generation. Compaitable with win7,8. The shared WiFi is secure and temporary if u use the PIN code protection and auto-key generation feature.

[Control Windows Media Player without touching your Computer]

Connectify

Connectify transforms your laptop into a real WiFi hotspot, sharing any available internet connection to others. It is the best and most used one. It can also act as a repeater for your home router because it re-broadcasts the home WiFi. It displays all connected nodes so you can view all connected devices to your connectify hotspot. It has a free and paid version for download. In free version you have no option to change the SSID(default ID is ‘Connectify Hotpot’).
Download (Official)

mHotspot

mHotspot is a completely free software for which performs the same as others. You can connect upto 10 devices at the same time and set your desired name as SSID. The application size is just 400kb  and has an in-app internet selection. mHotspot is available for both Windows and Android.
Download (Official)

Connec8

Connec8 can’t compete with the friendly GUI of others because It follows a command line interface. But comparatively it’s the best. It has all the features I said above and moreover its totally free. If you are okay with its interface, I personally recommend, simply go for it.
Download (Official)

[Lock your PC with just a Pendrive]

All the above ones does the same job. For serious use I recommend Connectify. In my case I use Connec8. Apart from the bad user interface, it satisfied all my needs.

10 Free Apps for Photo Editing on the Move

Editing photos is like applying finishing touches to a painting. Photographs often don't look as good as they could unless you apply that finishing touch. Since most people use their smartphones to take pictures, we have shortlisted the best photo editing apps that you can use on-the-go to take your photography to the next level.

1. VSCO Cam (iPhone, Android)

VSCO (pronounced visco) Cam started out as a paid app but went free last year. It is one of the best photo editing apps on iOS and Android if you want advanced controls. VSCO Cam has a great collection of filters, which are better than those on Instagram. While some filters are free, you'll have to pay for many others. Don't let this dissuade you from trying the app, as the free filters are good enough for most people.
VSCO Cam's editing tools include brightness, contrast, saturation, tint, crop, rotate, sharpness, highlights, shadows, among a few others. As evident, it has enough tools for professional photo editing.
However, beginners will take some time to figure out how to use VSCO Cam because the app relies on icons and code numbers instead of words. For instance, filters have names like B1, X1, etc., which may be hard to remember initially. All editing tools are icons (sharpness is a triangle, saturation is a rectangle with a gradient, etc.) and it may take you a little while to go through all the tools and find what you need.

Click here to download for Android

2. Snapseed (iPhone, iPad, Android)

VSCO Cam has almost everything you'll need, but it isn't yet available on tablets. If you want a great photo editing app for the iPad, Snapseed is a good choice. Snapseed's interface is intuitive. Once you add photos to the app, select manual tuning and swipe upwards or downwards on the picture. This shows you different variables such as contrast, saturation, etc. Select any one and simply swipe towards the right to increase its value or in the opposite direction to reduce it.
This app is walking the tightrope between ease of use and advanced functionality. So far, Snapseed has got the balance just right. For power users, Snapseed has the selective adjust feature. This lets you change contrast, etc. on any part of the photo, without editing the whole picture. Snapseed's filters range from great (Grunge, Retrolux, Vintage) to average (Drama, Black & White). VSCO Cam has a better variety of tools, but Snapseed makes it easier to access all of its tools.
Snapseed is available for iOS and Android.

3. Adobe Lightroom (iPad)

Lightroom and Photoshop are the reasons behind Adobe's iron grip on the desktop photo editing market. Lightroom for iPad isn't good as a standalone photo editing app, but it shines when used in conjunction with Lightroom for Windows or Mac. This means that you will need an Adobe subscription (around Rs 2,000 per month) to make the most of this iPad app.

If you are a subscriber or don't mind getting a subscription, Lightroom for iPad lets you synchronise edits between your desktop and iPad. The problem is that Lightroom for iPad lacks the advanced editing tools that are cherished by those who use the desktop app. If you want to make a quick edit, or apply a preset effect, Lightroom for iPad saves you the trouble of returning to your desktop. Lightroom is one of the few apps that support RAW files, which might appeal to those who use DSLR cameras. For those who want advanced editing options, Adobe's Photoshop Touch is a better (paid) alternative on the iPad.

4. Instagram (iPhone, Android, Windows Phone)

Apart from being one of the world's most popular photo communities, Instagram is a fast, hassle-free photo editing app. Its filters are adequate for most people, but not for power users. If you are into black-and-white photography, you might want to try other apps because Instagram's filters aren't the best.

5. Pixlr Express (Android, iOS)

Autodesk's photo-editing app Pixlr Express is quite useful when you want to remove unwanted spots or marks from photos. Whether it is dust on your camera's lens or flash burning out a small portion of the image, Pixlr Express is a good app for image correction. Available for both Android and iOS, Pixlr Express has easy to use tools, which help you touch-up images quickly. It has enough tools for power users too, coupled with Photoshop-like effects such as pencil, poster, sketch and halftone, among others.

6. Flickr (iPhone, Android, Windows Phone)

Like Instagram, Flickr has a great community of photographers. Unlike Instagram, however, Flickr has advanced editing tools, which is better for enthusiasts. Another advantage is that Flickr doesn't restrict you to square photos. Its built-in filters are fairly good too. The only major negative is that Flickr's Windows Phone app isn't as good as iOS and Android variants.

7. Photo Editor by Aviary (Android, iOS, Windows Phone)

If you are a Windows Phone user, Photo Editor by Aviary is one of the best apps for tweaking pictures. Although the app still works well, you should know that its developers stopped updating the Windows Phone version last year. This app - under active development for iPhone and Android - also makes it easy to add text, drawings and stickers to your photos. Apart from these, it has all basic editing tools such as filters, effects, crop, rotate, etc. It doesn't have much in the way of advanced options, but that shouldn't be a problem for casual users.

8. Repix (Android, iOS)

If you like pretty apps, then both Repix, and the next app in the list, will appeal to you. Apart from great design, Repix has some cool filters, basic editing tools (brightness, saturation, etc) and even effects such as flares and posterize. If you want more filters or effects, you can purchase those through the app.

9. Litely (Android, iOS)

Litely is similar to Repix, but it has fewer features and is easier to use. You can easily apply preset effects to any photo. A two-finger swipe shows you a before and after view of the picture. This makes it easy to see how an edit has changed the picture.

10. Photo Studio (BlackBerry 10, Android)

BlackBerry users don't have access to many great photo editing apps. However, Photo Studio is a fairly good option for those using BlackBerry 10. It is a simple image editor that lets you take pictures and apply effects and frames to those. Although its collection of filters is better than those on Instagram, the app lacks advanced editing tools, apart from one that lets you correct RGB levels. This means that those who want fine control over their images will be disappointed. Photo Studio also lets you make collages and apply sketch effects to your photographs.

We hope that these apps helped you make your photographs look professional. In case we missed any of your favourite editing apps or if you liked our choice of apps, please leave a comment to let us know.
